Week one is never what you pictured.

None of it means you're doing it wrong. It means you have a puppy. What most first-time owners are missing isn't patience, it's a plan simple enough to actually follow on four hours of sleep.

What's normal — and what to do about it

  • Biting and mouthing

    Completely normal. It's a developmental stage, not a behaviour problem. You redirect it to the rope toy, every single time.

  • Crying at night

    Normal for nights one to three. A worn t-shirt of yours in their bed and a consistent routine are what actually help.

  • Accidents indoors

    Expected in week one. The fix is tightening the routine, not correcting the puppy. The guide gives you the exact schedule.

  • Zoomies at 9pm

    Classic puppy crazy hour. Nothing is wrong. Ride it out, it passes on its own.

  • Days 8–10

  • Days 11–12

    Both commands outside, with higher distraction. Two weeks in, ahead of most dogs their age.
